  • 2014 Massachusetts Police Work Dog Association- K9 Patrol,Narcotic,Explosive Detection Workshop

    Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is pleased to be one of the sponsors for the Massachusetts Police Work Dog Association 2014 K9 Patrol, Narcotic, Explosive Detection Workshop hosted at University of Massachusetts-Amherst.This one-week course from May 19-May 23 will offer hands-on training and NAPWDA certification for K9 teams of all levels. Trainers from the North American Police Work Dog Association will be in attendance. NAPWDA certifications will be offered in Patrol/Utility, Narcotics Detection, Explosives Detection, and Tracking/Trailing. You DO NOT need to be a NAPWDA member to attend this seminar.     Additionally, we also welcome Jack Shonely (L.A.P.D.) who will present a one-day seminar on “Suspect Tactics and Perimeter Containment”. Jack has participated in over 2,000 perimeter containments during his career, and he has seen many successes and failures. He has shared his experience with thousands of law enforcement officers across the United States and Canada instructing on this topic. He is the author of Apprehending Fleeing Suspects; Suspect Tactics and Perimeter Containment© and has been published in numerous law enforcement publications.     Jack Shonely will instruct on Friday, May 23, 2014 at the UMass campus. The curriculum is open to all law enforcement officers to include K9, SWAT, field supervisors, air crew, watch commanders, and first line patrol responders. The tuition for this seminar is included in the K9 Summer Seminar fee. For those officers wishing to only attend Mr. Shonely’s seminar, please see the MAPWDA website for application forms.
    Pre-registration is required for all segments of this seminar by May 12th, 2014.
